PAN-Aadhaar Linking Deadline:
The end date for Linking your Aadhaar and PAN is extended by the Government.
Last date for linking your Aadhaar and Permanent Account Number (PAN) has been extended by the Government until 30 September 2021.
Earlier, there was last date to be 30 June 2021. The primary reason for the extension of the date was the difficulties that have been faced because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For making payments without interest, the date has to be extended till 30 June 2021 from 31 August 2021.

There are two different ways through which we can link PAN and Aadhaar.
Those are-
1. Through the website of Income Tax e-filing click on Linking PAN with Aadhaar.
2. Sending of an SMS to 567678 or on 56161
A. Linking of PAN with Aadhaar through an online process (Through the e-filing Website):
Step 1- Visiting the Income Tax Site .
Step 2- Providing the PAN, Aadhaar number, and name mentioned in the Aadhaar card.
Step 3- Check the square if only the birth year is mentioned in your Aadhaar card.
Step 4- Enter the given captcha code.
(Visually challenged users can also request for an OTP instead of using the captcha code method. The OTP would be sent on the mobile number which is registered.)
Step 5- Click on the button labelled as ‘Link Aadhaar.’
B. Linking PAN with Aadhaar by Sending an SMS:
For linking PAN with Aadhaar, you can also send an SMS. You will need to follow the steps which are mentioned below:
Step 1- Type UIDPAN<12-digit Aadhaar><10-digit PAN> on your mobile.
Step 2- Send an SMS on 567678 or 56161.
Send an SMS UIDPAN Aadhaar-number and PAN number to 567678.
What is the importance of Linking the PAN Card with the Aadhaar Card?
Both the cards (PAN and the Aadhaar) are unique identification cards that are used to serve as proof of identity necessary for registration and various verification purposes.

Procedure for Making Corrections in your PAN Card.

Following are the step-by-step procedure for making corrections to your PAN Card:
Step 1- Visit the NSDL website at https://www.tin-nsdl.com/downloads/pan/downloads-pan.html.
Step 2- Download the form 49AA
Step 3- Accurately, fill in all the required details.
Step 4- All the supporting documents would be asked for all the information you have mentioned in the form, such as proof of age, address, and identity.
The form would have a list of accepted documents and various instructions for filling up the form. Please read the form carefully.
Step 5- Attach your recent passport size photograph.
Step 6- Once the form is filled up with all the required information, please tick the box on the margin to the left side of the appropriate row that requires the possible correction.
Step 7- Send the application by post services to The INCOME TAX PAN SERVICES UNIT, managed by NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Limited. The Head office of the NSDL is based in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
Other methods for correcting details in Aadhaar Card:
In several cases, the elements which are mentioned on your Aadhaar Card might be wrong. It is also vital that these details can be corrected immediately. Correction of the details on the Aadhaar Card is easy, and can it can be completed by online methods and even offline methods.
Online Method-
• Visit website of UIDAI, which is mentioned as https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/web/guest/update.
• Provide your 12-digit Aadhaar number, which a captcha code would follow for accessing your account.
• Select the option that would be saying “OTP.” Then an OTP would be sent to your registered number.
• Next, click on the submit button after entering the received OTP.
• Check the blanks in your Aadhaar Card that need an update.
• A scanned copy of your supporting documents should be maintained with you and keep it ready as it would be needed for uploading.
Once the above steps are completed, a URN (Update Request Number) has been generated. It would be required for other processes.
Once the Aadhaar details have been updated with the newly provided information, take a print copy of it.
Offline Method-
• The Correction Form should be downloaded from the official website of UIDAI.
• For downloading the form, search through Resources> Enrolment Docs > Download Forms.
• Download the Aadhaar Correction Form from the official website.
• Fill in all the required details that are needed to be updated.
• You need to attach all the necessary supporting documents for all the changes that have to be made.
Procedure for Linking Aadhaar Card and PAN Card in case of any Mismatched name.
It is essential that the name mentioned on the Aadhaar Card and PAN Card needs to be the same. If there is any mismatch, the below-mentioned procedure can be helpful in linking the PAN Card with your Aadhaar Card:
Complete the name which is mismatched between Aadhaar & PAN card.
If the name in the Aadhaar Card is entirely different from the PAN Card, then the correction would have to be made either on the PAN database or in the Aadhaar database.
There can also be a Partial name mismatch between Aadhaar & PAN.
In case if there is any minor mismatch in the name of your Aadhaar card and even in PAN card, then the same can be corrected in the below-given way:
• If the name is mismatched in minor conditions, then we have to register. The One Time Password (OTP) would be sent to the user who has written for the correction in the same mobile number submitted Aadhaar card.
• Thus, the OTP can be used for verifying purposes in case of any mismatched name.
• However, the taxpayers need to make sure that the registered date of birth and gender details should be the same.
The Income Tax Department launched the facility of correction for Linking PAN with Aadhaar.
The Income Tax department has started the online facility to correct the errors in names and various other information presents on the Aadhaar document and Permanent Account Number (PAN) card. The Income Tax department has already launched the facility for linking the PAN Card with Aadhaar.
Now it has also included two hyperlinks on the official website for e-filing of tax. One link navigates towards the application page for Permanent Account number by an Indian national or a foreigner. The other link takes you towards the page where you can update all the necessary and required changes.
To update all the Aadhaar details, an individual can also login quickly to the Aadhaar SSUP (Self Service Update Portal). They can also upload all the required scanned documents that are needed as proof of data update requests.
